ARTIST STATEMENT

JOHANNA SCHOR
CALIFORNIA

I paint what I have seen, and what I can imagine.

A landscape can begin with a place I have visited or a feeling I have carried home. Once I am painting, color and shape take me somewhere else. Oil is the medium I love most. I enjoy the way it lets me keep looking, changing, and finding something unexpected.

After 45 years as a psychologist, I began painting at 75. I want to share the work with as many people as I can. If it also encourages someone to begin something new, that would mean a great deal to me.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

It is never too late to begin.

I am a California-based painter. I spent 45 years working as a psychologist and began painting at 75. I work primarily in oil, often returning to landscapes, remembered places, and imagination.

I would love to bring these paintings to new places and share them with more people. If you see a place for my work in your gallery or exhibition, I would be glad to talk.
